Railway and boat sheds at St. Leonards, Dunedin. I made the most of the mirror-like harbour and blue sky. Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1, Olympus 17mm f/2.8.

One of the joys of fourth year science is that, regardless of sound planning and diligence in both lab work, and written work, everything comes at once. To that end, I’ll be taking a six week break from this blog to ensure I get my progress report for the year, and exams, completed to the highest standards I can. While photography remains important to me, I’m equally passionate about microbes, and have to take this opportunity to prove that: 1) I’m capable of performing scientific research to a high standard; 2) my work will ultimately advance the area of microbiology in which I’m working, and 3) I’m able to achieve things that I commit myself to.

So, that’s it from me until the 20th of October. In the meantime, enjoy the six attached photos (one for each impending week of absence) from my pre-workaholism jaunt around the Otago Harbour.

A moored yacht and the often-terrifying-to-walk-on jetty at Ravensbourne, Dunedin. I very rarely make it out when the harbour's this smooth. Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1, Olympus 17mm f/2.8.

Broad Bay, Otago Peninsula, Dunedin. This is looking out from next to the yacht club, just before getting to the artificial beach. The weather was starting to worsen when I got around this side of the harbour. Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1, Olympus 17mm f/2.8.

More boat sheds at Broad Bay, Dunedin. The contrast between the blues and the creams really caught my eye, and stood out well against the monotony of the greens and greys around them. Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1, Olympus 17mm f/2.8.

Looking down the harbour from Highcliff Road, Otago Peninsula, Dunedin. The distant cranes are Port Chalmers, whilst the nearest settlement is Macandrew Bay (I think), and the sunbathed settlement Company Bay (I think). Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1, Olympus 17mm f/2.8.
